OGDEN, Utah -- After nine seasons, Jonas Ehrlin has announced he is stepping down as the head coach of the Weber State women's tennis team to pursue other interests.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity I've had to be a part of the Weber State tennis program," Ehrlin said. "As a former player I appreciate being able to coach and remain a part of Weber State Athletics. I feel it's a good time for me to step away with the program moving in the right direction."

Ehrlin was the head coach of the Wildcats from 2007-15. He compiled an overall record of 58-134 in nine seasons and was 23-55 in Big Sky Conference matches. He twice led the Wildcats to the Big Sky Tournament, including the 2015 season where the team posted a 7-4 conference record. Ehrlin coached seven Wildcats to All-Conference honors. He became the head coach in 2007 and also spent the 2004 season as the interim head coach of the Wildcat men's tennis program.

Ehrlin is a former Weber State standout tennis player and is a member of the WSU Athletics Hall of Fame. He helped lead his team to four straight Big Sky titles from 1984-87 and won two individual Big Sky titles.

He has also spent time as the Director of Tennis at Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club in Tucson, Ariz., and has been a teaching pro at the Ogden Athletic Club.

"We thank Jonas for his service to Weber State and his efforts in coaching the women's tennis program," said WSU Director of Athletics Jerry Bovee. "Jonas is a WSU Hall of Fame athlete and will always be a part of the Weber State Athletics family. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

The university will form a search committee to begin the process of hiring a new coach.
