Located on a hillside above the city of Ogden, at the base of the Wasatch Mountains, there are few stadiums anywhere which can match the natural surroundings as well as Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium located on the campus of Weber State University.  With recent improvements and upgrades, Stewart Stadium is now one of the finest stadiums in all of Division I FCS football.

In the summer of 2023, the east stands were completely renovated, as well as a new field and new track. The stadium now has a capacity of 13,441.

In 2019, the new Barbara and Rory Youngberg Football Center opened on the northend of the stadium. The 27,000-square-foot football building is the main entrance to the stadium and also includes the Sark’s Boy’s Gateway, the Stromberg Strength and Conditioning Complex, the Marquardt-Kimball Plaza, and the Behnken Plaza.

A new plaza, ticket office, and merchandise store are also part of the complex and two new video boards were installed at the stadium.

In 2011, a new state-of-the-art artificial turf field and a new track were installed at Stewart Stadium, thanks to a generous donation from Robert and Annette Marquardt. A new efficient lighting system has also been installed which has created more light on nighttime events. Another phase of the upgrading of the stadium is planned that will renovate the north end and will provide a main entrance into the stadium with a new ticket office, restrooms and concessions and merchandise areas.

Weber State opened a new 38,000 square foot Sky Suites & Press Box complex in 2001. The facility includes 26 sky suites, club seating, a press box facility for media and game operations as well as meeting spaces. The Sky Suites and Press Box complex was built thanks to a generous donation from the Stewart Education Foundation. Since opening in 2001, the facility has hosted many campus and community meetings and events, as well as weddings, dances and other outside events.

Stewart Stadium seats 17,500 fans and is also the home of the Weber State Athletic Department offices, as well as the coaching offices for football, track and field and volleyball. The facility also features a study area specifically for all WSU student-athletes. Full football locker rooms and new training rooms also add to the amenities of the stadium.

In 2005, the Tom and Nancy Davidson Track Locker Room was opened adjacent to the stadium, providing a locker room and training facility specifically for the Weber State men’s and women’s track and field teams. The Chick Hislop Track at Stewart Stadium has hosted eight Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships as well as yearly WSU track and field meets.

Stewart Stadium has been the home of Weber State football and track and field long since the 1950’s when the new campus of then Weber Junior College was built. The stadium was one of the first structures built on the new campus and the early games had minimal seating, located only on the hill on the east side of the field. That area was later made into permanent bleachers and went through subsequent expansions. In 1966, the west stands were added and the area became a stadium, not just a playing field.

In addition to Wildcat Athletic events Stewart Stadium has hosted numerous community events including concerts and religious performances. In 1998, the band Metallica performed at the Stadium. In the summer of 2010, the stadium was filled to capacity for a community religious performance. The stadium has been home to motor cross events, lacrosse games and has hosted the Utah State High School football championships.

Views of the Wasatch Mountains to the East and the city of Ogden and the Great Salt Lake to the West make Stewart Stadium one of the best settings in all of college athletics
