Weber State Athletic Department Holds Annual Academic Banquet

Of the 306 student-athletes at Weber State, 106 were honored for achieving a grade point average of 3.50 or higher during the Spring semester of 2007 and the Fall Semester of 2007. Seventy-five athletes were named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the Spring and Fall semesters in 2007.
Pat Wheeler of the Wildcat Club presented the annual "Wildcat Club Academic Achievement Award" given each year to the male and female athlete with the highest grade point average. BRET FERRIER (Sr.-Winnemucca, Nevada / Men's Cross Country/Track and Field) was the male awardee. He has a 3.98 gpa majoring in Computer Engineering Technology. HOLLY NORTH (Sr.-Riverton, Utah / Women's Track and Field) was the female awardee. She has a perfect 4.00 gpa majoring in Dental Hygiene. North and BEAU HADLEY (Jr.-Taylor, Utah / Football) were the only two athletes who have maintained a perfect 4.00 gpa during their athletic careers.
The Big Sky Scholar-Athlete awards were presented to SETH PILKINGTON (Sr.-Roy, Utah) of the men's cross country/track and field team and to SHELLI GOUGH (Sr.-Farmington, Utah) of the women's soccer team. Each school in the Big Sky Conference nominates a senior, male and female, for the award which combines outstanding athletic talent and classroom skills. Pilkington is a three-year letter winner in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. He has earned NCAA All-American honors four times during his career and All-Big Sky Conference on nine occasions. He has a 3.64 gpa in Accounting.
Gough was a four-year letter winner for Coach Tim Crompton's women's soccer team. She played in 78 career matches and was a 71-game starter and only missed one match in her four-year career. She posted 22 career points on eight goals and six assists. She was a four-time member of the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team.
