Schnibbe Breaks All-Time Assist Record in Loss to Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Tonya Schnibbe handed out four assists on Friday night, becoming Weber State's all-time assist leader for the lone bright spot on the night as the Wildcats were defeated 78-40 by Wyoming at Arena Auditorium.
The Cowgirls opened the night on a 16-2 run and took a 20-point lead at 30-10. The Wildcats got within 16 at the half, but Wyoming opened the second half with a 33-10 run to lead by 39 with 8:03 to play.
Schnibbe earned her third assist of the night on a Caitlin Anderson layup with 15:53 left in the game. The assist tied Karleen Peart (1981-84) at 468 career assists. Schnibbe moved into first place alone at 469 on an Anderson jumper with 6:04 left.
The Wildcats shot just 27.6 percent from the floor, hitting 16 of 58 shots, including a 1 for 13 performance from three-point territory. Meanwhile, the Cowgirls hit 28 of 55 shots for 50.5 percent.
Anderson led the Wildcats with 10 points on five of eight shooting from the floor. Sarah Conner added nine points, but hit just 3 of 13 shots.
Aubrey Vandiver led four Cowgirls in double figures with a game-high 16 points and added a game-high 17 rebounds. Jade Kennedy and Kristen Scheffler each added 12 points, while Hillary Carlson chipped in with 11.
The Wildcats fall to 6-6 on the season, while Wyoming improved to 9-1. WSU will next travel to Logan, Utah to face Utah State on Monday, Dec. 21.
