Weber State's outdoor track and field programs received two accolades on Wednesday.  Sarah Callister, a freshman from Ogden, Utah (Ogden HS) was named the Female Track Athlete of the Meet at last week's 2010 Weber State Credit Union / Big Sky Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, while Coach Dan Walker was named the 2010 Big Sky Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Callister won the 10,000 meter run on Friday night (May 14). Her winning time of 35:57.85 set a stadium record. The old mark was held by Erika Edwards of Northern Arizona who ran 36:43.31 at the 2004 Big Sky meet held in Ogden.   Callister then came back on Saturday (May 15) to win the 5,000 meter run in 17:32.95.

Earlier in the year, she posted times of 16:42.18 in the 5,000 meters and 34:37.33 in the 10,000 meters. Her time in the 5,000 is the fifth best in WSU school history and her time in the 10,000 is the third best in school history.

Weber State has now produced the 2010 Women's Outdoor Female Track Athlete and the 2010 Women's Indoor Female Track Athlete.  At the Big Sky Indoor meet, held at Montana State in late February, WSU's Natalie Haws was named the Indoor Female Track Athlete of the meet. She won the 5,000 meters in 17:00.61
and was second in the 3,000 meters in 9:52.41.

Dan Walker was named the 2010 Big Sky Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year. Walker's men pulled out the 2010 title by winning the meet's last event, the 4x400 Meter Relay, to defeat Northern Arizona. It is Walker's first Coach of the Year honor. He took over the Wildcat program in December of 2006 from 38-year veteran Chick Hislop. Walker served 22-years as an assistant for both the WSU men and women before taking the reigns. It was also Walker's first title and the first for WSU since the 2004 season.
