Weber State track and field signs 13 new recruits

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State Director of track and field Dan Walker announced the signing of 13 national letters of intent for the Wildcats 2014 recruiting class.
"I am very pleased with these signings for the early signing period," Walker said. "Much time and effort were put in by the coaching staff to get these fine athletes. We wanted to add talent and depth in our distances. We also wanted to add speed to our women's team. These goals were accomplished"
The Weber State women have added eight to their program, which includes Emeri Larsen (Fillmore, UT), Kenlie Lemon (Fillmore, UT), Ashlynn Allred (Cleveland, UT), Jody Meads (Sandy, UT), Bella Williams (Syracuse, UT), Maddie Ball (Mapleton, UT), Maranda Garrett (Ogden, UT), and Marlee Mitchell (South Jordan, UT). The group is made up of five distance runners , one hurdler, one thrower and one sprinter.
The Weber State men have signed five recruits this fall, which includes Bodyn Farrer (Lindon, UT), Russell Lundberg (Elk Ridge, UT) Taylor Dillon (North Salt Lake, UT), Hunter May (Bozeman, UT) ,and Zach Wiberg (Boise, ID). The group is made up of five distance runners.
Meet the Class
Women's Recruits:
Emeri Larsen, Hurdles, Fillmore, Utah (Milliard HS)
Larsen is the top returner in the state of Utah in 2A in the 100 Meter Hurdles and High Jump. She is the 5th best returner in the 100 Meter Hurdles in the state (all classifications considered). She was 2nd at the state meet in both the 100 Meter Hurdles and the High Jump, and 7th in the Shot Put.
Kenlie Lemon, Javelin, Fillmore, Utah (Milliard HS)
Lemon is the defending 2A state champion in the javelin throw as well as 3rd best 300 Meter Hurdler in 2A returning from 2014. She is the 4th best javelin thrower in the state returning from 2014 (all classifications considered).
Ashlynn Allred, Sprints, Cleveland, Utah (Emery HS)
Allred is the top returning senior in the 100 and 200 Meters in the state (all classifications considered). She has won two state titles in the 2A 100 Meter Dash and is the three-time defending state champion in the 2A 200 Meter Dash. She is also the 8th best long jumper in the state returning this season (all classifications considered).
Jody Meads, Distance, Sandy, Utah (Jordan HS)
Before moving to Utah, Meads finished second and third in the California State Cross Country Championships Division 5 in 2013 and 2012, respectively. In her first races at altitude, Jody ran quality marks in 1600 meters and 3200 meters that put her as the 8th best senior in the state returning in the 1600 and the 3200 meter runs.
Bella Williams, Distance, Syracuse, Utah (Syracuse HS)
Williams comes to Weber State as the third best 1600 meter runner in the state returning from 2014. Williams finished 5th in the state in the 5A 1600 in 2014. Her 800 meter personal best of 2:17.78 is the 3rd fastest time for a senior in that even in the state (all classifications considered). Has a personal best time of 4:57.14 in the 1600 meters.
Maddie Ball, Distance, Mapleton, Utah (Maple Mountain HS)
Ball finished 11th in the 2014 Utah State Track Championships in the 1600m for 4A and is the fifth best returner in that classification in that race. She is also the third fastest senior returner in 4A in the 800 meters based off of the places at the state meet in 2014.
Maranda Garrett, Distance, Ogden, Utah (Ogden HS)
Garrett finished fifth at the Utah 4A High School Cross Country Championships in 2014 and has been in the top 11 in the same meet for the last three years. She was 12th in the 3200 meter run at the 4A state track meet in 2014 and is the fourth fastest senior in that event for 4A. She will be joining her sister, Melissa, on the Weber State cross country and track teams when Melissa returns home from her LDS mission in the spring of 2016.
Marlee Mitchell, Distance, South Jordan, Utah (Bingham HS)
Mitchell is returning 2013 Foot Locker Cross Country Nationals Finalist. In order to qualify for the Foot Locker Cross Country Nationals, one must place in the top 10 in their regional race. With the country being divided up into four regions for this race, this puts MarLee as one of the top 40 cross country runners in the country last year as a Junior. As a Sophomore, she finished sixth and fifth in the 5A State Track meet in the 3200 Meter and 1600 Meter, respectively.
Men's Recruits:
Zach Wiberg, Distance, Boise, Idaho (Capitol HS)
Wiberg finished second at the Idaho State Cross Country Championships for 5A. He was ranked the second best cross country runner in the state of Idaho (all classes considered) on Milesplit.com. His 4:19.96 personal best in the 1600 meters placed him fifth in the Idaho State Track and Field Championships in 2014. His 1600 meter personal best makes him the fifth fastest senior in the state of Idaho returning for the 2015 season.
Taylor Dillon, Distance, North Salt Lake, Utah (Woods Cross HS)
Dillon is the fourth best 1600 meter runner in the state of Utah returning for the 2015 season. His personal best mark of 4:19.45 in that event placed him at sixth at the state championships in 2014. After an injury-laden season, Dillon came on strong at the state cross country championships and finished 13th in only his second race of the season. Taylor anchored the Woods Cross Medley Relays in the 800 that won the state championship for 4A and eventually led to a team state championship in 4A as well. He won the open race at Nike Southwest Regionals in Arizona.
Russell Lundberg, Distance, Elk Ridge, Utah (Salem Hills HS)
Lundberg returns as the fifth fastest senior in the state for the 3200 meters.. Lundberg's seventh place finish in the 4A Cross Country State Championships was a 25 place improvement from the previous year in the same race.
Bodyn Farrer, Distance, Lindon, Utah (Timpanogas HS)
In only his second season of cross country, Farrer finished 10th at the Utah 4A State Cross Country Championships in 2014. His finish at state in cross country was an 18 place improvement from 2013. He finished 12th overall at the prestigious Bob Firman Invitaional.
Hunter May, Distance, Bozeman, Montana (Bozeman HS)
Hunter had the fastest time in the 1600 meters in the state of Montana running 4:15.46. He was the third fastest senior in the 3200 meters and placed third in the state cross country meet. He is currently serving an LDS mission in Mexico.
