The Weber State women's basketball team held the high-flying Sacramento State Hornets below their typical high-scoring pace, but it wasn't enough to win Thursday night in California.

The Cats hung around most of the first half before the Hornets pulled away to win, 76-60.

Weber State did a better job defensively against the Big Sky's number one offense, but the Cats just couldn't find consistency offensively.

Sophomore guard Regina Okoye led the Cats with 16 points. Okoye also led the team in rebounding with eight boards. Center Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin was the only other Wildcat in double figures. She finished the night with ten points.

Weber State only shot 38 percent for the game while the Hornets shot 44 percent. Sacramento State was helped by 12 three-pointers. They attempted 34 in the game.

The Hornets won the battle down low, outscoring Weber State in the paint, 34-26.

It was a tight game on the boards, however, with the Hornets only outrebounding the Cats, 42-40.

With Sacramento State's up-tempo, full-court press style of play, the Wildcats did an outstanding job of giving up only nine fast-break points. However, the Cats could only muster four fast-break points against the Sacramento State press.

Weber State continues its road trip at Northern Arizona on Saturday night at 6:30.
