Weber State falls 95-77 to Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho -- Weber State women's basketball team took on the defending Big Sky Champions Idaho Thursday evening and despite having four Wildcats scoring in double figures, WSU fell 95-77.
Weber State started the game off with an awesome first quarter going on a 6-0 taking a 15-9 lead. They went on to claim an 11 point lead at the end of the first quarter for a 28-17 score.
The Vandals started out the second quarter on a 5-0 run and with three minutes left in the forced WSU into a drought that lasted two minutes. Idaho outscored Weber State 25-17 in the second quarter but WSU managed to hold onto a 45-42 lead at half time.
Idaho took control of the second half and pulled out the 95-77 win.
Weber State was led by Jocelyn Adams and Kailie Quinn who had 17 points each. Emily Drake added 12 points for the Wildcats and Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman followed in suit with 10 points.
Quinn also managed the game high of eight rebounds while Welch-Coleman posted seven assists. Zharia Hale came up with three steals for WSU.
WSU shot 36.6 percent from the field, 20.7 from the three and 76 percent from the free throw line. The Wildcats managed to pull down 37 rebounds, posted 12 assists and came away with seven steals.
The Vandals shot 49.3 from the field, 34 percent from the three and 75 percent from the free throw line. Idaho pulled down 47 rebounds, had 14 assists and seven steals.
Weber State is now 8-7 overall on the season and 2-2 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats will next take on Eastern Washington Saturday, Jan. 14, at 3 p.m. MT, before returning to the Dee Events Center to take on North Dakota Jan. 19.
