Weber State football continues to make history as the Wildcats are headed to Virginia to take on the defending national champion in the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs.Â
The Wildcats (11-2) will take on No. 1 James Madison Friday night in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The game with the Dukes will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern time (5 p.m. MT) and will be televised on ESPN2.Â
Weber State set a school record with its 11th win as the Wildcats beat in-state rival Southern Utah 30-13 Saturday night in Cedar City in the second round of the playoffs. The 11 wins is the most in a season in school history and the Wildcats have won two games in the FCS Playoffs in a season for the first time ever.Â
The Wildcats have also won seven-straight games, the third longest winning streak in school history and the longest winning streak in the same season ever.Â
James Madison is a perfect 12-0 this season and has been the top ranked team in the country all season. The Dukes captured the national title last season and have won 24-straight games, the longest active streak in all of Division I football and tied for the second-longest winning streak in FCS history.Â
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools and will be the second game ever for Weber State against a team from the Colonial Athletic Association. The Wildcats played at William & Mary in the first round of the playoffs in 2009.Â
