The honors keep coming for Weber State football. WSU senior tight end and two-time All-American Andrew Vollert has been selected to play in the 2018 East-West Shrine Game. The annual all-star game features some of college football's top professional prospects.

The 93rd annual East-West Shrine Game, will kick off at 1 p.m. MT on Saturday, January 20, from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and will be televised live on NFL Network.

Vollert is one of just two players from the Big Sky Conference in this year's game and is one of just 13 players from the Football Championship Subdivision.

He is the eighth Weber State player to ever play in the East-West Shrine Game and the first since 2008.

Vollert was a consensus All-American in 2017, helping Weber State to the Big Sky Championship, a school-record 11 wins, a top-five national ranking and two FCS Playoff wins. Vollert served as a team captain and played in all 14 games for Weber State this past season.

He earned Second Team All-America honors from the Associated Press, STATS, and the AFCA and earned Third Team All-American honors from HERO Sports. He became the 12th player in Weber State history to earn All-America honors twice in a career.

The San Mateo, California, native led the Wildcats in receptions and receiving yards for the second-straight season, finishing with 61 receptions for 773 yards and five touchdowns. He finished his two-year ranking 17th in Weber State history in receiving yards with 1,613 and 19th in career receptions with 123. Vollert was a unanimous selection to the Big Sky All-Conference first team.

Vollert graduated from Weber State in December 2017 with a degree in Communication. He also earned Academic All-District honors from CoSIDA and was named to the AFCA Academic All-Star team.

Vollert joins senior cornerback Taron Johnson in post-season all-star games. Johnson, a consensus First Team All-American and the 2017 Big Sky Defensive MVP, will play in the Reece's Senior Bowl on Jan. 27 in Mobile, Alabama.

The West team will be coached by Bobby Johnson, who has spent the last three seasons as the tight ends coach with the Oakland Raiders.

Created by the Shriners in 1925, the East-West Shrine Game was the nation's first college all-star football game. The game is driven by the desire to support Shriners Hospitals for Children in its mission to help children in need of expert medical care. More than 1 million children have benefited from Shriners Hospitals' unique way of providing hope and healing, regardless of the families' ability to pay for services. Every year, players and coaches visit the local Shriners Hospitals for Children during game week to meet the patients and gain a greater understanding of the importance of the game.
