Wildcat football announces 2020 schedule

After three-straight Big Sky titles and the highest ranking in school history, Weber State football is gearing up for the 2020 season and head coach Jay Hill and the Wildcats have announced the 2020 football schedule. Â
The 2020 season begins on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Laramie, Wyoming against the Wyoming Cowboys. It will be the fifth all-time meeting for Weber State against Wyoming and the first since 2011.Â
WSU will have a bye in week two followed by an FCS non-conference game at Northern Iowa on Sept. 19. The Wildcats beat the Panthers 29-17 in Ogden last September and will play in Cedar Rapids for the first time since 1991. UNI finished the 2019 season ranked fifth in the nation.Â
The Big Sky opener and the home opener will be on Sept. 26 against UC Davis. WSU will then travel to Cal Poly on Oct. 3.Â
The 'Cats will have a non-conference home game on Oct. 10 against Dixie State. 2020 will mark the first season as an FCS Independent for Dixie State and will be the first of a three-game series between the Wildcats and Trailblazers.Â
WSU will host Montana State on Oct. 17 before road games at Eastern Washington (Oct, 24) and Idaho State (Oct. 31). Weber State will close out the season hosting Portland State on Nov. 7, at Southern Utah on Nov. 14 and home to Northern Colorado on Nov. 21.Â
Weber State will not play Idaho, Montana, Northern Arizona, or Sacramento State this season in Big Sky play.Â
Weber State football has won three-straight Big Sky titles and is coming off the best year in program history. The Wildcats finished 11-4 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs for the first time ever. WSU finished the season ranked third in the nation, the highest ranking in school history. Weber State also had four players earn All-America honors and a Big Sky best 14 players earn all-conference honors.Â
Head coach Jay Hill returns for his seventh season at the helm of the Wildcat program. He was named the Region Coach of the Year in 2019. Hill has the best conference winning percentage in school history.
