Conner Mortensen named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week

OGDEN - After helping lead the Wildcat defense in Saturday's win, Weber State senior linebacker Conner Mortensen has been honored as the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday.
Mortensen had a team-high 11 tackles and had 3.5 tackles for loss in Saturday's 18-13 win over No. 23 UC Davis.
His 11 tackles included nine solo tackles and the 3.5 tackles for loss totaled 12 yards. He also added one pass breakup in leading the No. 2 ranked Wildcats to the win.
Mortensen, a native of Overton, Nevada, leads the Wildcats with 18 tackles in the two games this season. He is serving as one of the team captains this year.
Saturday was his 40th career game at Weber State. He now has 152 career tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss.
Weber State improved to 2-0 in the spring season and has won nine-straight games at home. The Wildcats have a bye week this week before hosting Northern Arizona on March 27.
