Wildcat football picked fourth in Big Sky preseason polls

Noah Atagi named to the preseason all-conference team.
SPOKANE, Wash. - Weber State football is picked to finish fourth in the 2022 Big Sky preseason polls, released Monday at the Big Sky Kickoff in Spokane.Â
The Wildcats were selected fourth in both the coaches and media polls.
After winning four-straight Big Sky titles from 2017-20, the Wildcats are coming off a 6-5 season in 2021. Weber State has five players returning that earned all-conference honors last season.Â
Head coach Jay Hill returns for his ninth season as head coach. He is WSU's all-time leader in coaching wins with 58 and is 44-17 in Big Sky Conference games.Â
Montana was selected first in both the coaches and media polls. The coaches had Sacramento State in second place with Montana State third. The media picked MSU second and Sacramento State third.Â
In addition, WSU junior offensive lineman Noah Atagi was named to the Big Sky preseason all-conference team. Atagi is a two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection and has played in 32 games during his Wildcat career.Â
The Wildcats will open fall camp on August 3 and will kickoff the 2022 season on Thursday, September 1 against Western Oregon. Weber State will have six home games this season, including Utah Tech, Eastern Washington, Montana, Sacramento State and Idaho State. Â
