Weber State will play at James Madison in 2025 football season opener

Wildcats and Dukes will meet on August 30, 2025, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools.
OGDEN - Weber State's opener for the 2025 football season is set. The Wildcats will take on the James Madison Dukes on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the season opener for both teams. The game will be played at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Virginia.Â
James Madison just completed its third year transitioning to an FBS program after many years as one of the top FCS programs in the country. The Dukes won two FCS national titles and advanced to four FCS championship games.
"We are excited for the opportunity to open the 2025 season with James Madison," said Weber State Director of Athletics Tim Crompton. "This game will not only strengthen us financially, it also provides a unique experience for our student-athletes."

With the addition of this game, Weber State's 2025 schedule is almost set. The Wildcats will open the year with three road games at James Madison on August 30, Arizona on September 6, and McNeese on September 13. WSU plans to have a home game on September 20 before starting Big Sky Conference play.Â
This will be the fourth meeting between Weber State and James Madison, all in the last eight seasons. The Wildcats and Dukes met twice in the FCS Playoffs in Harrisonburg. JMU beat the Wildcats 31-28 in December 2017 in the FCS quarterfinals and beat the Wildcats in December 2019 in the FCS semifinals.Â
The two teams last met in Ogden in September 2021, a 37-24 JMU victory at Stewart Stadium. The two teams were scheduled to play in Harrisonburg in 2022 before James Madison moved to the FBS level.Â
