Wildcat football opens fall camp Thursday

Weber State begins practice for the 2024 season this Thursday at Stewart Stadium. The season opener is August 31 at Washington.
OGDEN - Football is in the air! Weber State football will begin practice for the 2024 season this Thursday, August 1.Â
Under head coach Mickey Mental, the Wildcats will hold their first practice on Thursday afternoon, beginning at approximately 3:45 p.m. at Stewart Stadium. It is the first of 19 scheduled practices for fall camp, leading up to the week of the first game of the season.Â
Practices will be held at Stewart Stadium, or the lower practice fields on the WSU campus. Â
Coach Mental returns for his second season as head coach of the Wildcats and his third season in the WSU program.Â
Weber State is coming off its ninth straight winning season last year and won the final three games of the season, including a win over fourth-ranked Idaho.Â
The Wildcats have nine starters returning from last season. Junior defensive end Brayden Wilson earned All-Big Sky honors last year and is a preseason All-Big Sky and preseason All-American this year.Â
Weber State opens the 2024 season on August 31 at the University of Washington.Â
The first home game and first Big Sky Conference game will be on September 7 against Portland State.Â
WSU will then play non-conference games at Lamar and Northwestern State, and a home game against McNeese, before returning to Big Sky play. Â
The Wildcats will host Northern Colorado (October 12), Idaho State (November 9), and Cal Poly (November 23). Conference road games will be at Montana, Sacramento State, Northern Arizona, and Idaho.Â
