Colette Smith brings a wealth of experience to Weber State as both a player and a coach. A four-year collegiate starter, she began her playing career at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where she led the team in goals and points as a freshman. She later transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU), earning Newcomer of the Year honors and serving as a two-year team captain. During her time at BYU, she helped lead the team to an NCAA #2 ranking and an Elite Eight finish in 2013, and was named the team's Attacking Player of the Year. Her playing career culminated in signing with the Utah Royals in 2018 to play professionally.

Smith's coaching career spans multiple levels, including club, high school, college, and semi-professional teams. As a high school coach, she led her teams to five State Championship titles in six years, earning Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) Coach of the Year and United Soccer Coaches Regional Coach of the Year honors. While serving as an assistant coach for the Utah Royals Reserves, she helped guide the team to a National Runner-Up finish in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The team also earned WPSL Staff of the Year and Franchise of the Year accolades, with both the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year coming from the Utah Royals Reserve. She has former players who have gone on to play professionally in the NWSL and abroad.

Colette is passionate about player development, team growth, and fostering a love for the game at all levels. She believes in creating a positive environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the field and is a big advocate in Utah for women empowerment and girls playing sports.

"It's a privilege to join Weber State Soccer as the new assistant coach and contribute to the growth of such talented and inspiring young women," said Smith. "I'm passionate about helping these players reach their full potential, both on and off the field, and creating a program where they feel supported and empowered. I fully believe in Head Coach Kyle Christensen and our shared vision for creating a team and environment where success thrives both on and off the field. My family's love and encouragement make this opportunity even more special, and we're all excited to be part of this journey. I can't wait to help build a culture of excellence, teamwork, and belief that will define the future of this program."

Colette is from Farmington Utah and played soccer at Davis High School. She is married to her best friend Pierce Smith and together they have three sons, Dez, Finn, and Bo.
