Wildcats drop season opener to Rams

FORT COLLINS, Colorado - Weber State women's basketball opened its 2025-26 season with a 75-58 loss to the Colorado State Rams this Tuesday evening.
In a competitive first quarter, the Wildcats used a 6-0 run to take a 10-8 lead against the Rams. Five straight points by Colorado State then gave the Rams the advantage, but a Lanae Billy three-pointer tied the score 13-13. The Rams then used a 10-0 run to close the quarter in their favor, 23-13.
Sydney White began the second quarter with a 3-pointer as the Wildcats worked at the deficit. However, the 'Cats were unable to string together more than a couple of points to end the half down 46-30. Weber State shot 34.4 percent from the field compared to Colorado State's 70.4 percent in the first half.
Coming back from the break, Weber State used six straight points to trail by 12. But a late run by the Rams then ended the quarter 59-45. Battling in the final quarter of gameplay, the Wildcats Antoniette Emma-Nnopu pulled together six points to help cut the deficit to 11. However, a tough Colorado State squad proved too much, securing the game 75-58.
