Ortega was named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Second Team

Weber State senior offensive lineman Gavin Ortega has earned preseason All-America honors. Ortega was named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Second Team. 

Ortega is one of 13 players from the Big Sky Conference named to the Stats preseason team. 

He earned All-Big Sky second team honors in 2024 after starting all 12 games for the Wildcats. He is the only returning Wildcat who earned All-Big Sky honors last season. 

Ortega, a native of Bellingham, Washington, enters his senior season having played in 29 career games at Weber State. He also earned Academic All-District honors in 2024. 

Weber State begins practice for the 2025 season on July 30, and the season opener is set for August 30 at James Madison. The home opener is September 20 against Butler.
