Tana Vea named WSU assistant coach and Recruiting Coordinator

Vea will coach the Weber State running backs.

OGDEN - Tana Vea is returning to Weber State. New Wildcat head coach Eric Kjar has named Vea as an assistant coach and the Recruiting Coordinator. He will coach the Wildcat running backs. 

This marks Vea's second stint with the Wildcats. He was previously with Weber State for four seasons as a student assistant and Recruiting Coordinator, from the spring 2021 season through the 2023 season. During that time, he helped guide the Wildcats to a Big Sky Championship and two appearances in the FCS Playoffs.

After leaving Weber State, Vea spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons as the Recruiting Coordinator at San Diego State. 

"Tana is an outstanding recruiter and an excellent coach, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to Weber State," Kjar said. "He knows this program, understands what it takes to be successful here, and brings tremendous energy and relationships that will be invaluable to our staff and our players."

A native of Inglewood, California, Vea played high school football at Juan Diego High School in Salt Lake City. 

He also began his coaching career at Juan Diego, where he spent six years as an assistant coach, including roles as offensive coordinator and running backs coach.

Vea earned his degree in Sociology from Weber State in 2023.
