Ono Tafisi named Weber State assistant caoch

Tafisi will coach the WSU defensive tackles.

OGDEN — Weber State head coach Eric Kjar has named Ono Tafisi an assistant coach with the Wildcats. Tafisi will coach the defensive tackles.

A native of Salt Lake City, Tafisi brings several years of collegiate coaching experience to Weber State. 

He spent three seasons (2022-23, 2025) as an assistant coach at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, where he coached the defensive line.

In 2024, Tafisi served as a graduate assistant at New Mexico State, working with the offensive line. 

He began his coaching career at Snow College, spending two seasons as an assistant coach, coaching running backs and assisting with the offensive line. During his time at Snow, Tafisi coached two All-Americans, and in the spring 2021 season, the Badgers ranked first nationally in offense and advanced to the NJCAA national championship game.

Tafisi played high school football at Highland High School in Salt Lake City. His collegiate playing career included one season at then-Dixie State, one season at Snow College, and two seasons at Adams State, where he started 21 games on the offensive line. He also spent one season playing professionally in the Indoor Football League.

Tafisi graduated from Adams State in 2019 with a degree in sociology. 

He is the youngest of seven children, and his brother, Nu'u Tafisi, is a member of the football staff at San Jose State.
