Wildcats defeat Eagles 74-72 in overtime

OGDEN - Weber State women's basketball battled to a 74-72 overtime victory over the Eastern Washington Eagles.Â
It was a competitive first half between the Wildcats and the Eagles.
Weber State held a slim 16-14 advantage after the first quarter before beginning to pull away in the second. The Wildcats used an 11-0 run to take a 27-16 lead, but Eastern Washington responded with runs of its own to close the half trailing just 36-35.Â
Weber State was efficient from beyond the arc in the opening half, knocking down seven three-pointers on 63.6 percent shooting.
The third quarter was a low-scoring stretch for the Wildcats, who managed nine points while the Eagles scored 12 to take a 48-44 lead heading into the final period.
Weber State regained momentum in the fourth quarter, reclaiming the lead at 55-52 on a three-pointer from Sydney White. Eastern Washington answered with back-to-back threes to swing the lead back in its favor late.
With just over a minute in the final frame, Antoniette Emma-Nnopu hit a 3-pointer to tie the score 64-64 and push the game into overtime. Â
In the extra period, Emma-Nnopu opened the scoring with another three, followed by a triple from Lanae Billy, giving the Wildcats a 70-66 edge.Â
Weber State then managed to hold off the Eagles down the stretch to secure a 74-72 overtime victory.
