Gavin Ortega signs as free agent with Denver Broncos

Ortega was an All-American and two-time All-Big Sky selection in four seasons at Weber State.
Gavin Ortega will get his opportunity in the NFL. Ortega has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos, following the 2026 NFL Draft.Â
Ortega, a native of Bellingham, Washington, signed at Weber State in December 2021. He played four seasons with the Wildcats from 2022-25.Â
He earned All-America honors as a senior in 2025 and was a two-time All-Big Sky selection. He played 41 games on the offensive line for the Wildcats during his career, including every game of his final three seasons.Â
As a senior, Ortega was a team captain and earned All-America honors from FCS Football Central. He was also named a first-team All-Big Sky selection. He helped anchor the WSU offensive line that allowed just 14 sacks, the third-fewest in the Big Sky.Â
Ortega also earned multiple Academic All-Big Sky honors in Nursing.Â
