The Wildcats and Bears will kickoff the 2026 season with a Friday night game in Greeley.

Wildcat football will be coming one day sooner!

The 2026 Weber State football season opener at Northern Colorado has been moved up one day and will now be played on Friday, August 28, in Greeley, Colorado.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Nottingham Field in Greeley. Northern Colorado recently announced the addition of permanent lighting at Nottingham Field, and the season opener will be played under the new lights.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with the WSU radio broadcast on 103.1 FM.

It will also mark the start of the Eric Kjar era of Wildcat football. Kjar was named the 13th head coach in Weber State history in December. He won seven Utah State high school championships in his career, including a 112-10 record and six state titles at Corner Canyon High School, before coming to Weber State.

The Wildcats will welcome approximately 60 new players this season.

Practice for the 2026 season will begin in late July.

The season opener with the Bears will also be a conference game as the Big Sky has added a ninth conference game to the schedule.

Weber State will play the first three games on the road this season. After the game at Northern Colorado, Weber State will play at Southern Utah on Sept. 5 in Cedar City, then play at Colorado on Sept. 12 in Boulder.

The home opener will be on Sept. 19 against Northwestern State. Weber State will play six home games this season, with six of the final nine games at Stewart Stadium.

Season tickets for Wildcat football will go on sale in early June.
