Jared finished his Wildcat career in 2021. He played in all 59 games during his career, the most games played by any player in Weber State history. 

He is one of seven players in WSU history to earn first-team All-Big Sky honors three times in a career. He finished his career with 32 career tackles for loss. He also had 11.5 career sacks with 170 career total tackles.  

He also earned multiple academic honors including the Big Sky Scholar-Athlete and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. 

2021 (Senior)
Earned first-team honors for the third-straight season...Started in all 11 games for the Wildcats and was a team captain during the season…Recorded six sacks on the season and had 37 total tackles and nine tackles for loss…Had at least one tackle in every game and had six tackles in three games…Had two sacks in WSU’s win at Idaho State…Also had one interception, coming in WSU’s 62-0 win at Southern Utah. 

Spring 2021 (Senior)
Started all six games for the Wildcats in the spring season and helped led Weber State to a four-straight Big Sky Conference title...Served as one of the team captains for the season and earned first-team All-Big Sky honors for the second-straight season...Totaled 17 tackles in the six games with 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack...Also had one fumble recovery.

2019 (Junior)
Started all 15 games and earned first-team All-Big Sky honors during Weber State’s historic season, helping WSU win a third-straight Big Sky title and advance to the FCS Semifinals…Was 14th in the Big Sky in tackles for loss with 10.5...Had two tackles for loss against San Diego State and UC Davis...Recorded 55 total tackles on the year with 24 solo tackles and 31 assisted tackles...Had a season-high seven tackles in Weber State’s FCS Playoff win over Kennesaw State...Had five tackles in four other games...Recorded 2.5 sacks for a loss of 18 yards...Also had one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry...Earned Big Sky Academic All-Conference honors as a Master’s of Health Administration student. 

2018 (Sophomore)
Played in all 13 games in helping the Wildcats to a second-straight Big Sky title and a trip to the FCS Quarterfinals...Finished the season with 39 tackles with 17 solo tackles and 22 assisted tackles...Had season-high tackles of five against Northern Arizona, Idaho State and Maine...Also had 7.5 tackles for loss on the season for a loss of 21 yards...Also had one sack in a win at Idaho State and had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery...Earned Big Sky Academic All-Conference honors in Health Administration.  

2017 (R-Freshman)
Played in 13 games as a red shirt freshman during Weber State’s historic season that included a school-record 11 wins, a Big Sky title, two wins in the FCS Playoffs and a fifth-place national ranking...Totaled 25 tackles on the season with 11 solo and 14 assisted tackles...Had a season-high five tackles in the win at Cal Poly...Also had 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack, coming in WSU’s win over Montana on Oct. 28.

2016 
Sat out the season as a red shirt.

Manti High School 
Was highly recruited out of Manti High where he played for coach Cole Meacham...Earned First Team All-State honors as a senior...Helped lead the Templars to state title game...Recorded 80 tackles, 13 sacks and one interception during his senior season...Played multiple positions during his career at Manti and rushed for 533 yards and 11 touchdowns and had 364 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Personal
Parents are James and Teri Schiess...Is one of five boys...His younger brother Doug is a freshman on this year's Wildcat team and his older brother Blake was a member of the WSU team in 2015 and 2016...Is married to current Weber State volleyball player Sam Schiess...Originally signed with Weber State in February 2014, then served an LDS Church mission to Lima, Peru...Graduated from Weber State in April 2019 with a degree in Health Administration and earned a Master's of Health Administration degree in April 2021.
