Dr. Bryant Thompson

Dr. Bryant Thompson is the NCAA Faculty Representative for Weber State University Athletics. He assumed his role in October 2023.Â
Dr. Thompson is an Associate Professor of Business Administration in the John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics at Weber State University. He studies resilience, relational connection, and well-being. He is the past recipient of the Richard M. Alston Endowed Award for Teaching Excellence and the Nye Award for Outstanding Honors Faculty. He currently serves on the advisory boards for the Richard Richards Institute for Ethics and the Weber State Honors Faculty.Â
As the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), Thompson will work closely with Weber State student-athletes, coaches, and senior staff to provide guidance and support. His responsibilities will also include monitoring academic progress, ensuring compliance with NCAA and conference regulations, and promoting a culture of academic excellence within the athletic department.Â
Thompson graduated from Weber State with a BIS degree in 2002 and has deep ties to the university. His great-grandfather graduated from Weber Stake Academy in 1906, his father, Fred, played and coached baseball at Weber State, his brother, Erik, played baseball and rugby for Weber State’s club teams, and his uncle, Paul, served as president of Weber State.Â
Prior to returning to Weber State in 2014, Thompson studied at Cambridge, worked as a management consultant in Washington, D.C., received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of South Carolina, and taught leadership as a faculty member at the United States Military Academy at West Point.Â
Thompson and his wife, Teresa, are the parents to five children, Bry, Sam, Matt, Tess, and Hannah.
