Emma Hicken joined the Weber State Athletics Department in 2026 as an Assistant Director of Communications. She brings experience in athletic communications, media relations, social media, marketing, photography, graphic design and game-day operations.
Prior to joining Weber State, Hicken served as a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications at Western Illinois University from 2025-26. During her time at Western Illinois, she served as the primary communications contact for assigned sports, handling media relations, statistical operations and game-day responsibilities.Â
Hicken was heavily involved in conference and postseason coverage during her time at Western Illinois. She managed live game coverage and social media operations for the Ohio Valley Conference, including live updates, content creation, student staff supervision and coordination of media availability. She also worked during the NCAA March Madness Tournament, providing live social media coverage and creating content.
Before her time at Western Illinois, Hicken worked in Athletics Marketing and Promotions at Southern Utah University during the 2024-25 academic year. She assisted with game-day promotions, fan engagement initiatives, in-game entertainment, sponsorship activations and promotional contests.
Hicken also gained experience in events and marketing with the Iron County Yeti and Quincy Doggy Paddlers, where she developed social media content, created graphics and promotional videos, assisted with branding and digital marketing, and worked with the front office on themed promotions, sponsor campaigns, and fan engagement initiatives.
Hicken graduated from Southern Utah University in 2025 with a bachelor's degree in Communications. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Sport Management from Western Illinois University.
