In his first season as a volunteer assistant coach, John Mortensen helped lead the Wildcats to a 29-32 overall record and the program’s fifth Big Sky Tournament title and second NCAA Tournament win.
Mortensen has spent the past 15 years coaching competitive softball most recently for USA Athletics. He has also coached at Layton High School and spent the past five years at Farmington High School.
Mortensen grew up in Pleasant View, started his own small business in Eden and has been in the outdoor sports industry for 30 years. He has been married to his wife for 30 years with three kids, Haleigh, JP and Ellie, one granddaughter, Rowyn and dog Chanel.
