Jeff Smith, the Director of Golf at Weber State University, is in his 24th season as the head coach of the Wildcat women's golf team. As Director of Golf, Smith oversees both the men's and women's programs.
Smith led the women's team to their first ever Big Sky championship in 2001. He also coached Wildcat teams to five consecutive second place finishes in the Big Sky from 1995 to 2000. He also won back-to-back Big Sky Coach of the Year awards in 1999 and 2000.
Smith is a native of Ogden, Utah and graduated from Weber State in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration/Finance. For 12 years Smith served as the head PGA Pro at Golf City Family Center where he ran the Ladies and Juniors Associations and taught golf lessons. Prior to Golf City, Smith was a Pro at El Monte Golf Course in Ogden for 10 years.
He is very active in the Professional Golf Association. He has served on the PGA National Teaching Committee and was the Director of Golf for the Utah State Special Olympics (skills competition). He is active in Special Olympics on a national level as well, establishing criteria and instructing golf instructors. He was named the Utah PGA Teacher of the Year in 1989 and was a recipient of the 1996 PGA Junior Golf Leader Award.
Smith has two daughters: Tarra and Courtney.
