POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Weber State women's soccer team came out flat in a meaningless match and suffered the consequences, falling 2-0 to Idaho State in the last contest of the 2007 regular season.
The Wildcats needed a win or tie by Portland State against Sacramento State on Friday to have a chance at the conference regular-season title, but the Vikings fell in Sacramento as the Hornets clinched the title and the right to host the Big Sky tournament. The match also locked the Wildcats into the second seed in the postseason and made the result of Saturday's match against the Bengals moot.
Kilee Quigley opened the scoring for ISU, netting her second goal of the season in the 44th minute on an assist by Taylor Powell. Natalie Graham added an insurance goal in the 64th minute with her fourth tally of the year. Michelle Okumura assisted Graham on the score.
Rebecca Ritchie posted five saves in the match and was beaten twice for only the second time this season in Big Sky play.
The Wildcats played much better in the second half, out-shooting the Bengals 11-4 in the second period after ISU held a 7-3 edge over the first 45 minutes.
Weber State will now look forward to the Big Sky Championships, which will take place in Sacramento, Calif. on Nov. 9-11.
