Ehlers Named Big Sky Player of the Week

OGDEN, Utah -- The Big Sky Conference
has announced its women's soccer players of the week for matches played
from Sept. 12 - 16. Weber State midfielder Kelsie Ehlers was named
Offensive Player of the Week, while Idaho State goalkeeper Maren Eves
and Northern Arizona goalkeeper Elizabeth Winkelblech were named
Co-Defensive Players of the Week.
Ehlers, a sophomore midfielder from Layton, Utah, recorded three assists for the Wildcats, all on throw-ins against Utah State and Boise State. Ehlers hit teammate Whitney Smith for a spectacular one-touch goal in a 4-3 loss to Utah State. On Friday, Ehlers recorded two assists, including the game-winner in a 3-0 defeat over Boise State. In the 11th minute against the Broncos, Ehlers found Lauren Parkhurst to open the scoring. Later, in the 68th minute, Kelsie put a ball to the head of Teresa Holt, who pounded the header to the right post for an insurance goal.
Eves, a senior from Sandy, Utah, led Idaho State in two overtime matches against Utah and Utah State. Against Utah she registered nine saves on 27 shots and 13 shots on goal. In a 1-0 loss to Utah State Eves collected a career-best 12 saves on 23 shots and 13 on goal.
Winkelblech, a senior from Henderson, Nev., collected six saves and shut out San Jose State for a 0-0 draw in double overtime. In a 1-0 loss to Wisconsin she registerted four saves and saw her 513:53 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal snapped.
