BOISE, Idaho -- Running back Ian Johnson ran for 129 yards and three touchdowns on Thursday night to lead 24th-ranked Boise State to a 56-7 win over Weber State.
The Bronco offense looked just as potent as in its Fiesta Bowl upset of Oklahoma last season as they piled up 569 yards of offense on the Wildcats.
BSU struck for four touchdowns in the first quarter to put the game away early. Johnson accounted for two of the four scores, including a 54-yard scamper with 43 seconds left in the period.
The Wildcats managed only 145 yards of offense and did not get on the board until the 3:40 mark of the fourth quarter, when Jimmy Barnes hit Bryant Eteuati on a 21-yard scoring strike.
The 'Cats (0-1) will have next week off before traveling to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to face Cal-Poly.
