Wildcats Win Fifth Straight with 3-1 Victory at Northern Colorado

The
Weber State volleyball team won its fifth straight match with a 3-1 win at
Northern Colorado Saturday night in Greeley.
The Wildcats picked up a 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18 victory over the
Bears to improve to 8-6 in Big Sky play with two matches remaining.
After
dropping the first set the Wildcats hit .342 in the second set and closed out
the set on a 5-0 run to tie the match at 1-1.
WSU closed out the third set on a 6-1 run, while posting a .393
percentage in that set and went on to close out the match in the fourth.
Weber
State was led by junior Chelsea Bair who posted her 17th
double-double of the season with 14 kills and 17 digs.
Senior
Brittney Bisaillon added 13 kills and hit .435 for the match. She also had four blocks and became the Big
Sky Conference's all-time leader in career blocks with 637. She leads the Big Sky in blocks this season
at 1.33 per set.
Caitlyn
Anderson added 16 digs for the Wildcats and Leah Burmeister posted nine kills
and seven digs.
Weber
State out hit the Bears .292 to .186. They
also out blocked UNC 13 to three.
Northern Colorado did led the ?Cats 55-51 in kills and out dug WSU
64-59.
“It
was a great team effort for us and we never panicked during the match,” said
WSU head coach Al Givens. “We kept
playing hard and stayed patient throughout the match and did what we needed
to. We blocked the ball very well and
had great production from several players.”
With
the win the ?Cats improve to 19-11 overall and 8-6 in league play with two
matches remaining. WSU is tied with Montana
for fourth in the league standings. The
Wildcats will finish out the regular season next Friday and Saturday when they
host Montana and Montana State.
