No half time deficit. No angry half time speech. No kidding around. Weber State led from start to finish in its 84-66 home court win over instate rival Southern Utah, Saturday night in Ogden.

The Wildcats, who had trailed at half time in all eight regular season games, placed five players in double figure scoring in a game which was never in doubt.  WSU took a 1-0 lead on a free throw by STEVE PANOS, the first of a career high 11 made free throws in the game, and was followed by the first of four first half three-pointer by NICK HANSEN.

PANOS gave the Wildcats a 21-point lead, 33-12, with another made free throw with 6:45 left and cruised the rest of the game. WSU's largest lead, 82-59, came with 2:44 remaining.

“I was pleased with our effort and the way they came out and took care of business tonight,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We had a very spirited practice yesterday and we played that way. We really shared the ball and everyone was chasing down missed shots and hustling.”

PANOS led the Wildcats with 19 points but was just 4-6 from the field. He scored 15 of those points in the second half to keep the Thunderbirds at bay. His 13 free throw attempts were a career high as well. HANSEN ended the game with 18 points on 5-11 shooting - all from the three-point arc. FRANKLIN SESSION had a career high 18 points, a career high six assists and added four steals. LINDSEY HUGHEY came off the bench to score 12 and DAMIAN LILLARD had a season low 11 points, but led the 'Cats with six rebounds and added five assists.

DAVIS BAKER scored a game high 27 points for Southern Utah. SUU'S shot just 37 percent (21-57) from the field and made just 2-12 (.167) from the three-point line. JAKE NIELSON had 13 points and led his team with seven rebounds.  Southern Utah is now 3-7 this season.

Weber State moves to 5-4 overall and has now won four straight. The Wildcats face a stern test next Thursday, December 17 when they travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for a meeting with the UNLV Runnin' Rebels at 8:05 p.m. (MST) at the Thomas & Mack Center.
