Wildcats Drop Second Conference Match

The Weber State volleyball team dropped a tough 3-1 match at Northern Arizona Saturday night, falling to 0-2 in Big Sky play with their ninth straight loss. The Lumberjacks beat the Wildcats 25-13, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22 for their first conference win of the season.
The 'Cats lost the first set for the 12th time this season as NAU never trailed and closed the set on a 10-3 run. However, the Wildcats came back strong in the second set. With the score tied at 20-20, WSU went on a 5-1 run to close the set and even the match at 1-1.
After NAU captured the third set, the fourth set went down to the wire. There were 10 ties and three lead changes in that set until the Lumberjacks scored the final three points to seal the victory. NAU out hit the Wildcats .160 to .102 and finished with four more kills and nine more digs than Weber State. The Wildcats were led by Chelsea Bair who posted 13 kills on the night and recorded six digs. Freshman Bethany Wray posted a career-high with 11 kills and Caitlyn Anderson led the 'Cats with 15 digs. Northern Arizona improves to 4-7 overall with the victory. The Wildcats drop to 1-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Weber State will return home next weekend for a pair of conference matches when they host Portland State Friday and Eastern Washington Saturday at the Swenson Gym. |
