CHENEY, Wash. -- Sarah Conner's 20 points was not enough to give the Weber State women's basketball team a much-needed conference win as Eastern Washington came away with a 77-65 win at Reese Court on Saturday night.
The Wildcats traded leads with the Eagles for the first 12 minutes of the game, but a pair of free throws by Carrie Ojeda gave the Eagles the lead for good with 8:07 left in the opening half. The free throws kicked off an 18-4 run by Eastern Washington that would find the home team up 39-26 at the break.
The lead went to 20 points with 10:05 remaining in the game, but the Wildcats scored the next 11 points, cutting the lead back to single digits at 59-50.
The Eagles regrouped, however, pushing the lead back to as many as 15 points, and Easetern Washington iced the game with free throws down the stretch.
Conner hit 6 of 12 shots from the floor and 6 of 6 from the free throw line for her 20 points. The senior guard also pulled in a game-high nine rebounds and recorded three assists.
Caitlin Anderson added 11 points, while Tonya Schnibbe chipped in with eight points and five assists. Mikell Woodfield and Megan Patterson each also scored eight points.
Eastern Washington's Kyla Evans led all players with 24 points. She hit 6 of 11 shots and added six rebounds and four assists. Brianne Ryan and Jessica Huntington each added 11 points for Eastern Washington.
Eastern Washington improved to a perfect 7-0 in Big Sky play, remaining atop the league standings, and moved to 13-6 overall. The Wildcats fell to 7-13 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
The Wildcats will have four days off before facing Sacramento State in the team's lone game next week. The game will be on Thursday, Jan. 28 and will tip off at 8:00 p.m. MDT in Sacramento.
