SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Weber State women's basketball team put up its second-highest point total of the regular season on Thursday night, but the Wildcats were outdone by the Big Sky's leading offense as Sacramento State took a 90-75 win at the Hornets Nest.
The Wildcats used a 12-0 run midway through the first half to take a 21-14 lead over the Hornets, but Sac State bounced back with a 7-0 run of its own to tie the game at 21-21. The Hornets eventually pushed out to a 40-37 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Wildcats battled and took a 44-43 lead with 17:22 to play, but a 15-2 run gave the Hornets the lead for good.
Pressure by the Hornets got the best of the Wildcats at times, as Sac State forced 27 turnovers, leading to a 22 to 9 edge in points off turnovers and a 14 to 4 edge in fast break points. The Hornets racked up 21 steals, while the Wildcats managed only four.
Ali Thorderson and Sarah Conner each hit three shots from behind the arc en route to scoring 15 points to lead Weber State. Thorderson hit 6 of 8 shots overall for her 15, and added seven rebounds and three assists. Conner added five assists and two steals to her 15 points.

The 90 points by Sac State is the first time Weber State has allowed 90 points to a Big Sky opponent in nearly 15 years. The last time occurred on Feb. 4, 1995 when Northern Arizona scored 92.
The Hornets won their third-straight to improve to 7-12 overall and 3-4 in the Big Sky. Weber State fell to 7-14 overall and 1-7 in the conference as it wrapped up the first half of league play.
The Wildcats will return to action on Feb. 5 and 6 as they host Montana and Montana State. Both games are scheduled to tipoff at 7:00 p.m.
