AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Wildcats couldn't quite find the magic needed to celebrate their millennium game on Friday night.

Sophomore forward Amanda Hughes tallied her second consecutive double-double and sophomore guard Megan Patterson added a season-high 13 points, but it wasn't quite enough to life the Weber State University women's basketball team to victory as the Wildcats fell 64-54 to Texas State in the Air Force Classic at Clune Arena in Air Force Academy, Colo.

The game was the 1,000th game in Weber State University history. The Wildcats are 486-514 spanning the 35 year history of the team, which began on January 15, 1975. Coincidentally that first game was played not too far from Friday's matchup, as the Wildcats faced the University of Colorado at Boulder, Colo.

Hughes, a native of Aurora, Colo., and one of four Wildcats from Utah's eastern border state, finished with 15 points, her third straight game in double figures scoring, along with a career high-tying 10 rebounds and two blocked shots in 25 minutes of action. Sophomore guard Mariah Metoyer, a native of Boulder, added eight rebounds and five points in her fourth start of the year.
The game was tight throughout, with four lead changes and three ties, although the Bobcats were able to maintain the lead through the final 25 minutes of the game.

Weber State was ultimately done in by its inability to hold onto the ball, with the Wildcats committing a season-high 21 turnovers.

WSU (1-3) remains at the Air Force Classic on Saturday when the Wildcats will face Bryant University (1-5) at 2 p.m.
