Wildcats edge Bryant, 51-49

Junior guard Caela Mohre scored on a finger-roll layup with under a second remaining to lift the Weber State University women's basketball team to a thrilling 51-49 victory over Bryant University at the Air Force Classic on Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena in Air Force Academy, Colo.
Sophomore guard Megan Patterson scored a career-high 16 points, knocking down four 3-pointers to lead Weber State offensive charge. Mohre finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
"We fought hard on the defensive end of the court tonight," Weber State coach Carla Taylor said. "I'm proud of their competitiveness and composure."
Sophomore guard Mariah Metoyer added a career-high nine rebounds for the Wildcats, who snapped a three-game losing streak and moved to 2-3 overall on the season.
Weber State led 49-39 with less than four minutes remaining, but Bryant rallied to tie the game up a 49-49 with 23 seconds left.
Keeping their cool, the Wildcats ran down the clock and Mohre delivered the knockout punch with .9 seconds remaining.
Statistically the game was a dead heat, with both squads knocking down 19 field goals. Ultimately the difference game from the 3-point line, where the Wildcats hit converted eight long distance shots.
Junior center Karlee Weight, who returned from a knee injury this weekend, finished with six points and six rebounds, while sophomore forward Amanda Hughes added six points and senior forward Caitlin Anderson had five points for the Purple and White.
Weber State led 29-28 at halftime and led for nearly the entire second half, despite three lead changes just out of the break.
The Wildcats will return home on Wednesday to face Montana-Western. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
