WSU Wins 2nd-Straight Big Sky Match

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team earned its second-straight Big Sky Conference victory on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Portland State. The Wildcats split a pair of matches on the trip, as they fell to the University of Portland 6-1 on Friday night.
Against the Pilots, only Kassia Adamson scored for the Wildcats. The freshman defeated Tessa Mini 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 singles match for the point.
Against the Vikings on Saturday, WSU jumped out early, taking the doubles point with wins in all three matches. Greyce Farias and Elsje Beneke beat Anya Dalkin and Caitlin Stocking 8-5 at No. 1; Brittiny Moore and Caroline Drugge defeated Nayantara Vadali and Martha Pellicano 8-4 at No. 2; and Keya Jenkins and Adamson downed Emily McClaren and Kylea Gleason 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles, the Wildcats won four of the six matches, all in straight sets. Jenkins defeated Dalkin 6-2, 6-2 in the top match, while Beneke scored a 6-3, 6-3 win over Vadali at No. 3. Drugge earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Emily McClaren at No. 5, and Adamson cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kylea Gleason at No. 6.
The Wildcats will finish the season this week as they take on Utah State on Wednesday and Idaho State on Friday. Both matches will begin at Noon at the Ogden Athletic Club.
