Lindsey Hughey Named Co-Big Sky Player of the Week

OGDEN, UTAH (Jan. 17, 2011) - Weber State's Lindsey Hughey and Montana's Brian Qvale have been selected as the co-Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Players of the week.
Hughey, a 6-foot-3 senior guard from Grand Prairie, Texas, averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists per game as the Wildcats earned victories over Sacramento State and Idaho State. Hughey shot 55.6 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line. He also had two steals.
Qvale, a 6-11 senior center from Williston, N.D., averaged 15 points, 13 rebounds and four 4.5 blocks per game as the Grizzlies topped Portland State and Eastern Washington. Qvale shot 50 percent form the floor, 50 percent from the free-throw line and also had two assists and one steal.
Hughey scored a career-high 27 points in am 84-71 win over Sacramento State. Hughey was 9-of-15 from the floor, 3-of-7 from 3-point range, and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. He also had four rebounds, three blocks and a steal. Hughey added 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and a steal in a 71-67 win over Idaho State.
Qvale netted 13 points with 12 rebounds, five blocks, two assists and a steal in a 66-47 win over Eastern Washington. He tallied 17 points with 14 rebounds and four blocks in a 77-70 win over Portland State. Qvale's final block against Portland State gave him 212 in his career, tying him for the Big Sky career record.
This is the second career player of the week honor for Qvale and the first for Hughey.
