OGDEN, Utah - Sophomore outside hitter Briana Wilms had 12 kills, hitting .429, and seven blocks to lead the Weber State University women's volleyball team on Friday evening, but the Wildcats came up short against Montana.

Led by 12 kills from Kelsey Schile the Grizzlies captured a 25-22, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19 victory over the Wildcats at Swenson Gym.

Junior outside hitter Bethany Wray added 12 kills, eight digs and three service aces for the Wildcats, who dropped to 0-5 in Big Sky play (0-17 overall).

Weber State appeared to be well on its way to seizing control of the match early, staking out a 21-15 lead in the first set, but Montana (2-4, 5-9) rallied back with a 10-1 surge that captured the set and stole the early momentum.

The Grizzlies jumped out early in the second set, taking a 5-1 lead, but the Wildcats charged back and pulled away for a four-point set win to level the match at 1-1.

Montana used a 7-0 surge in the third set to pull away from a 9-9 tie. The Grizzlies hit .417 to just .067 by the Wildcats in the set as Montana took a 2-1 lead with the seven-point win.

Weber State showed life early in the fourth set, rallying from a 4-1 deficit to take an 11-8 lead. The Wildcats still led 16-15, but the Grizzlies closed the set on a 10-3 surge to take the match.

WSU will return to action on Saturday night against Montana State. The Bobcats entered their Friday night match at Idaho State with an 0-5 mark in Big Sky play (0-15 overall). First serve between Weber State and Montana State is 7 p.m. at Swenson Gym.
