Wildcats Roll to 106-57 Win Over Mayville State

OGDEN, Utah – Four Weber State players scored in double figures and the 'Cats made a school record 18 three-pointers as WSU rolled to a 106-57 victory over Mayville State Monday night at the Dee Events Center. With the win the 'Cats improve to 7-3 on the season.
Weber State shot 59 percent from the field, their second-best shooting performance of the season and the held the Comets to 33 percent shooting. Weber State also outrebounded Mayville State, an NAIA school from North Dakota, 40-26.
The 'Cats were led by junior Damian Lillard posted 28 points and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds for his second career double-double. He continues to lead the nation in scoring, now with an average of 25.7 points per game. He finished the night 8-11 from the field, including 4-6 from three-point land, and was a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. He also moved past Todd Harper into seventh in the Weber State career scoring list.
Sophomore Jordan Richardson had a career-high 23 points on 8-9 shooting. Richardson was 7-8 from three-point land and finished the night 8-9 from the field.
Junior Scott Bamforth added 19 points and freshman James Hajek came off the bench for a career-high 13 points on 5-7 shooting. WSU had 31 points off the bench.
“I was happy with our performance throughout our team and I thought we stayed within our game plan,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We executed what we wanted to do and were able to get some of our younger players some good game experience.”
The 49-point victory is tied for the eighth largest win in WSU school history. The 'Cats will be back home Thursday to host Utah at the Dee Events Center. That game will be the final non-conference game before the Wildcats start Big Sky play next week. The Wildcats and Utes will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on Altitude TV.
