OREM, Utah - Junior forward Shawnte Taylor scored 12 points and senior center Mikell Woodfield added a double-double, but the Weber State University women's basketball team fell in heart-breaking fashion against in-state rival Utah Valley.
The Wolverines' Sammie Jensen scored 19 points and pulled down 21 rebounds as UVU rallied for a 63-59 victory over the Wildcats on Thursday night at the UCCU Center.
Woodfield finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while also adding a season-high four assists for Weber State (1-8).
Sophomore guard Justine Johnson added eight points for WSU.
Weber State led 35-31 at halftime, the first time this season the Wildcats have led at the intermission, but WSU was haunted by costly foul trouble in the second half as the Wolverines rallied.
Weber State will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when it hosts CSU Bakersfield at the Dee Events Center. The Roadrunners are 3-7 this season after snapping a six-game skid on Thursday night in Missoula, Mont.
