LINCOLN, Neb. - Junior outside hitter Bethany Wray extended her double-figures kills streak to nine straight matches, but the Weber State University women's volleyball team couldn't overcome a tough St. Mary's College squad on Thursday afternoon
The Gaels, out of the West Coast Conference, swept the Wildcats 25-16, 25-14, 25-19 in the opening match of the Ameritas Players Challenge at NU Coliseum in Lincoln, Neb.
Weber State dropped to 0-7 on the season, while St. Mary's improved to 4-3.
Wray finished with 10 kills, extending a streak of reaching double-figures in that category that began late last season. She also finished with a team-high tying four digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Briana Wilms added seven kills for Weber State.
Defensively the Wildcats struggled against the athletic Gaels, finishing with a season-low three team blocks and just 23 digs.
