The Weber State women's basketball team lost its home opener to Boise State on Thursday, 70-56.

Once again, the Wildcats outrebounded their opponents, 50-43 this time over the Broncos. Freshman center Jalen Carpenter led the way on the boards with 12 and freshman forward Kalie Matthews was right behind her with 11.

Freshman forward Regina Okoye led the Wildcats in scoring with 10 points but the rest of the starters contributed also. Both Carpenter and Matthews added nine points and freshman guard Desiree Ramos had eight. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Carlee Lough had seven points of her own.

The Wildcats hung tough through the first ten minutes of the game, but the Broncos were able to pull away midway through the first half behind a strong performance by center Lauren Lenhardt. Lenhardt had 11 first-half points and finished with 13 total.

Five Broncos finished in double-digits. Lenhardt's 13 led all scorers. Brandi Henton and Diana Lee added 12 points each in the game and Amber Vandiver and Erica Martinez each had 10.

The difference in the game was the bench scoring where the Broncos outscored the Wildcats 28-13 in the game.

Weber State will hit the road over the weekend travelling to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on the 22nd-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. MT.
