Army fends off feisty Wildcats

The Weber State women's basketball team fell to visiting Army on Wednesday night, 77-58.
The Wildcats struggled against the taller Black Knights giving up 38 points in the paint while scoring 26 points in the paint. The Wildcats were also outrebounded in the game by a 45-35 margin.
Freshman guard Desiree Ramos led the Wildcats with 15 points and freshman forward Regina Okoye added 14 points of her own.
Once again, freshman forward Kalie Matthews led all rebounders with 13 boards in the game.
The game's leading scorer was Army senior guard Anna Simmers who finished the game with 26 points. Army's scoring centered around four of the five starters. Simmers, Aimee Oertner, Olivia Schretzman and Jen Hazlett accounted for 67 of the Black Knights' 77 points.
The Wildcats' scoring was a little bit more deep. Ramos and Okoye were the only Wildcats in double-digits, but Jalen Carpenter added seven points and Matthews and Amanda Hughes both had six points.
Weber State shot 33.9 percent from the floor while the Black Knights shot 47.7 percent from the floor.
The Wildcats had 12 fast break points to Army's two.
Weber State will play again on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when the Utah Utes come to the Dee Events Center.
