Lobos top the Wildcats at The Pit

The Weber State women's basketball team fell on the road to New Mexico on Tuesday night, 67-44.
Senior forward Amanda Hughes led the Wildcats with 13 points in the game, and freshman guard Regina Okoye added 10 points.
The Lobos were led by senior guard Caroline Durbin who picked up 15 points in the game. Durbin led all scorers in the game and New Mexico junior guard Deeva Vaughn added 14 on the night.
The Wildcats, once again, dealt with a much bigger opponent. The Lobos outscored Weber State in the paint by a margin of 46-24.
The Wildcats were also outrebounded, 54-32.
Weber State improved again on their transition game, outscoring the Lobos on fast breaks, 11-8.
Freshman forward Jalen Carpenter and sophomore guard Brianna Averette both led the team with six rebounds. Vaughn led the game with eight rebounds in the game.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats shot a season-low 22.4 percent. Weber State also struggled from three-point range again, going 3-for-18 from beyond the arc.
The Wildcats, however, played very aggressively, recording 16 steals in the game. Freshman guard Brittney Newcomb, playing in her first game as a Wildcat had three steals in the game. Okoye and Carpenter also had three steals each. Newcomb added six points in the game.
