The Weber State women's basketball team fell on the road to in-state foe Utah Valley on Tuesday, 68-56.

The Wildcats hung around through most of the first half until the Wolverines pulled away just before halftime, stretching what had been a four-point lead into a ten-point halftime lead.

Utah Valley pulled away after the break and never looked back. The Wolverines were led by reigning Great West Player of the Year, Sammie Jensen who finished the game with 30 points.

Jensen was the game's leading scorer, but the Wildcats were led by senior point guard Kia Rhodes who finished the game with 11 points. That point total was Rhodes' largest of the season and just three points short of her career high of 14.

Weber State got strong minutes from freshman forward Grace Farnsworth who finished with eight points. Freshman center Jalen Carpenter also added eight points in the game.

Meanwhile freshman guard Desiree Ramos finished with ten points in the game and freshman forward Kalie Matthews ended the game with seven points. Despite the team effort that included 32 bench points to only four from the Wolverines, the Wildcats fell short mostly due to a poor shooting night.

Weber State shot 30.4 percent from the game from the floor and just 21.1 percent from three-point range, going 4-for-19 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats struggled from the free throw line in the game as well, going 10-for-19 from the stripe.

The Wolverines went to the line almost twice as many times as the Wildcats did, going 23-for-35.

While the Wildcats dominated in bench play, Utah Valley outscored the Wildcats in the paint by a 34-18 margin. The Wildcats did, however, outscore the Wolverines off of turnovers, 17-13. That was helped by Utah Valley's 23 turnovers in the game to Weber State's 18.

The Wildcats will be back in action on December 14 at Wyoming at 7 p.m.
