The Weber State women's basketball team lost on the road to red-hot Wyoming (8-1), 77-62. Wyoming sophomore forward Kayla Woodward led the Cowgirls to the win behind 20 points and seven rebounds.
Freshman center Jalen Carpenter led the Wildcats with a career-high 13 points, while freshman forward Regina Okoye ended the game with nine points.
Kalie Matthews, Desiree Ramos and Brianna Averette each had eight points.
Weber State outscored the Cowgirls in the second half, 35-33, but Wyoming got out to a huge first-half lead thanks to a great shooting half. The Cowgirls shot 51.7 percent in the first half to obtain a 44-27 halftime lead. Despite the Wildcats' second-half efforts, they could never pull back in the game.
In addition to leading the team in scoring, Carpenter also led Weber State with eight rebounds.
The Wildcats outscored the Cowgirls in the paint, 32-26, a category that the Wildcats have struggled with all season.
Weber State also improved in their points off of turnovers, outscoring the Cowgirls, 18-10, off turnovers. That was helped by Okoye's career-high five steals.
The difference in the game was on the glass with Wyoming outrebounding the Wildcats, 44-30.
Weber State will now travel to Tucson, Arizona, to take on the Arizona Wildcats on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
