Newcomb's 21-Point Effort Not Enough for Wildcats

Freshman guard Brittney Newcomb recorded a career-high 21 points, but it was not enough to propel the Weber State women's basketball team past Arizona on Sunday afternoon in the 81-49 loss.
Weber State turned the ball over 35 times, allowing 32 points off of those turnovers. Arizona dominated in the paint as well, outscoring Weber State 52-10 in the post.
Weber State's shooting woes continued again on Sunday, finishing 16-of-54 from the floor for 29.6 percent.
Newcomb was the game's leading scorer. Most of her points came from behind the arc. She finished with five three-pointers, a season-high for Weber State. She had all five three-pointers in the game for Weber State.
Arizona did not struggle from the floor. They shot 45.6 percent on the afternoon. Both teams missed ten free throws each, Arizona going 15-of-25 from the stripe and Weber State going 12-of-22.
Weber State was outrebounded, 50-39. Matthews led all rebounders with nine and Jalen Carpenter pulled in eight rebounds of her own. However, Arizona had four players with seven boards.
Arizona also had four players in double-digits scoring, led be Davellyn Whyte who finished the game with 19 points.
